Arkansan by blood, Texan by heart. I was born and raised in Arkansas until I was 20 when I took a leap of faith and moved to California to attend BSSM. From there, I unexpectedly met my husband, and we moved to SETX, where he’s from, and ironically only a 4 1/2 hour drive from my hometown.
I was involved in gymnastics and softball at a young age, but as I got older, I started to not care about sports or even being active. Before CrossFit, I had zero experience in the gym. I didn’t even know what a burpee was.
You know that saying that’s like “One of my biggest fears in life is that I’ll marry into one of those families that does 5Ks on holidays.” Yeah, that’s me, except I married into a family that does CrossFit. I’m thankful that we don’t run 5ks on the holidays because running is at the bottom of my pyramid.
If I were to be completely transparent, I did not love CrossFit when I first tried it. It took a few go-arounds until I realized I couldn’t live without it. I slowly started to fall in love with making myself the best version of myself I could be. I began to fall in love with the sport and everything it had to offer, from all the challenges it presented to the community it created.
Being able to move your body is a gift. Be grateful for something that most take for granted. I genuinely believe you will never regret the time you invested in yourself.
